004 - Action/Voice

[Action]

[Although Teddy didn't go on the draft, he knew plenty of friends who did. Once he was certain they were all accounted for, though some had gone through some heavy losses, he felt like he could relax a little. And with relaxation, it dawned on him that he hadn't really practiced his shifting ability in a while. Sure, there was his Hulkling form, but he knew that one. Knew it inside and out. What about others?

This is why he sits by the edge of the fountain, homework and pencil in hand, though he doesn't work so much as watch people over the top of the page. He's inconspicuous about it, as this is a hobby he's developed for some time now.

And when he's sure he's not in anyone's range of vision, he transforms, shifting into the form of the person he's got his eyes on. That's when he stops watching them and looks down at the body he's impersonating, just to study the shape, occasionally glancing up to make sure he has everything right. Even when the person's left, he still stays in that form for a few long moments before he shifts back, writing his answers in his homework once he's satisfied with the shape he's in.

Observe, learn, shift, hold. This is what he's learned over the years, though it's been a while since he's done this for selfless reasons. Just for practice, nothing more.]

[Voice]

[It's sunset and he's still outside, though he appears to be walking back home. There's just one thing on his mind, something that occurred to him while shifting.]

Anyone up for playing b-ball sometime? It's been way too long since I actually got to play against someone. Holograms just don't really cut it, you know?

[He would suggest football, but, well. When you've got the ability to possibly break someone in half with a good tackle, that probably isn't the best sport to go for.]

[It's not as odd as some might find it, to know she was greeting someone other than who her eyes were telling her was sitting there. Still, Artemis grinned and lifted her hand in a return wave as she ambled closer.

When she reaches him, she gives him a friendly smile, a hint of curiosity in her eyes.]

Heya. You look like you're keeping busy. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me at first.

Directly? [She clarified with a crooked grin as she sank down on the edge of the fountain beside him.] Just since the last store when I realized something was strange.

[She let her gaze roam over his attempt at this with admiration.] You're really good. Is it tech? Magic?

For real? [Artemis grins, then takes him in skeptically for a moment, trying to spot any differences in the copy of Suki. Not that she'd known the other girl that long but she was pretty observant. She puzzled it over a moment before grinning.] Well, you're really good at it. I don't know that I'd know you weren't Suki if you hadn't kept switching forms while sitting in the same place.

[His explanation about his team caught her interest and she tilted her head to the side.] Billy mentioned the Young Avengers when I met him. The Avengers are the superheroes where you come from?

[She was admittedly curious about this, because it was strange to think about a world so different from her own, with all different people and places. Granted, it was stranger knowing the Robins came from some place so similar to what she knew and yet not...

This whole place was a study of strange experiences and concepts so far.]

[Artemis laughs as his explanation wound to an abrupt stop and shakes her head with a grin.] I don't think it's boring at all. I think it's really cool, actually. Besides, that's a lot to geek out about, from the sound of it. Becoming the replacement team of your favorite superheroes sounds like a pretty daunting task. And from what I saw of Billy's training, you guys don't suck at it at all. It's not always as easy as the superheroes make it look.

[Artemis blinked a moment. Then did her best to stifle her laughter behind her hand, although that was pretty much unsuccessful.] Wow. Yeah. That's a... less than stellar way to start.

Asgardian. Yeah I can see how that... might be an unfortunate choice of a superhero name. Considering. [She was trying not to laugh. Or not to keep laughing. Really, she was.]

So that Hulk guy you mentioned... is he a shapeshifter like you? And wait. Asgardian. Is that like Loki? [Because that was a little too odd to be a coincidence.]

[That was a lot of names to keep straight, but she did her best. It helped that she had met Loki, the younger and he'd proved to be a rather memorable encounter.

When he mentioned his hero outfit, a look of curiosity flickered across her face.]
Would it be rude of me to ask to see?

[She watches in avid fascination, not at all weirded out when he changes from a form like Suki's into his Hulkling appearance. Her lips curve when he finishes, Artemis beaming at him and looking thoroughly impressed.]

I can see where the name comes from much easier now. That's so cool.

[She did wonder why he was green, but couldn't really think of a polite way to ask that, beyond wondering if he was a Martian like M'Gann. He did have the shapeshifting ability too, which made the connections even more obvious in her head. She pushed that away for a conversation for another time.]
