004 - Action/Voice
[Action]
[Although Teddy didn't go on the draft, he knew plenty of friends who did. Once he was certain they were all accounted for, though some had gone through some heavy losses, he felt like he could relax a little. And with relaxation, it dawned on him that he hadn't really practiced his shifting ability in a while. Sure, there was his Hulkling form, but he knew that one. Knew it inside and out. What about others?
This is why he sits by the edge of the fountain, homework and pencil in hand, though he doesn't work so much as watch people over the top of the page. He's inconspicuous about it, as this is a hobby he's developed for some time now.
And when he's sure he's not in anyone's range of vision, he transforms, shifting into the form of the person he's got his eyes on. That's when he stops watching them and looks down at the body he's impersonating, just to study the shape, occasionally glancing up to make sure he has everything right. Even when the person's left, he still stays in that form for a few long moments before he shifts back, writing his answers in his homework once he's satisfied with the shape he's in.
Observe, learn, shift, hold. This is what he's learned over the years, though it's been a while since he's done this for selfless reasons. Just for practice, nothing more.]
[Voice]
[It's sunset and he's still outside, though he appears to be walking back home. There's just one thing on his mind, something that occurred to him while shifting.]
Anyone up for playing b-ball sometime? It's been way too long since I actually got to play against someone. Holograms just don't really cut it, you know?
[He would suggest football, but, well. When you've got the ability to possibly break someone in half with a good tackle, that probably isn't the best sport to go for.]

But then she had to ask about the Avengers and
and
Artemis what have you done]
Yeah! The Avengers are a huge group right now - you've probably got something like that where you come from [The Justice League, he knows, but he'd rather not just go on and on like he knows where she comes from.], but back then, it actually used to be pretty small. They originally formed when a radio transmission from Rick Jones was tampered with, and after saving the day, they decided to make it official. The original team consisted of Iron Man, Thor, Ant-man, Wasp and the Hulk, though Captain America joined sometime later. At one time, all of them except for Captain America quit, and then he was joined by heroes that used to be enemies: Hawkeye, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, the latter two being brother and sister.
[And after a pause:] And, well, more and more heroes have joined and quit and joined again since then. With us... The Avengers disbanded entirely at one point. A friend we knew named Nathaniel dug up a fail-safe program from an android called Vision, and that gave some names to go to just in case the Avengers ever quit. And... some of those names were us. We dressed up as our own versions of four of the originals, trained for months, and went out to do some world saving of our own.
We kind of sucked at it. But... here we are now.
...
[Oh, jeez.] Oh god, I just totally bored you to death, didn't I? I'm sorry. Billy and I are kind of geeks about this kind of thing...
Re: [Action]
[Action]
We like to think we don't suck as much anymore, after all the training and fighting we've done. You know, one of the first times we went out to actually do hero work, we accidentally set a church on fire. And we had to get rescued by a future Young Avenger.
[Well, he and Billy did the fire thing. By flirting. And Nate did put the fire out. But still. They were pretty bad.]
Re: [Action]
[Action]
Yeah, yeah, we were pretty spectacular. We're a lot better now, though. We even stopped copying the originals and just became our own selves. [He glance at her again, his smile turning into something more proud.] That's how Billy stopped going by Asgardian and decided to with Wiccan instead. But I'm still called Hulkling.
Re: [Action]
So that Hulk guy you mentioned... is he a shapeshifter like you? And wait. Asgardian. Is that like Loki? [Because that was a little too odd to be a coincidence.]
[Action]
Sort of. Remember, Loki wasn't part of the Avengers at all. [He's the villain they originally went up against, after all, but he'd rather not say that, just in case Artemis is friends with the younger one or something.] Loki is the adoptive brother of Thor. They both lived in Asgard, and Billy was copying Thor when we were starting out. So, Asgardian.
As for Hulk... no, he's not. He's green, huge, and has some anger issues. I took on that name because I was the only one who could change into something like him and still have most of his strength.
Since I'm still green in my hero outfit, I decided to just stick with Hulkling. That, and we couldn't come up with anything more original for my name.
Re: [Action]
When he mentioned his hero outfit, a look of curiosity flickered across her face.] Would it be rude of me to ask to see?
[Action]
Not at all. Fair warning: It might be strange to look at.
[He only sounds just a teensy bit self-conscious, which is leaps and bounds better than the way he was with the original Young Avengers group. After that, he looks ahead, and in that time he's already shifting. Size, hair, body structure - even his clothes are changing along with him.
And once he's done, he's himself again, but this time in his Hulkling form. And when he speaks, it's no longer Suki's voice, but in a tone that's slightly deeper than his own.]
All hulked out and ready to go.
Re: [Action]
I can see where the name comes from much easier now. That's so cool.
[She did wonder why he was green, but couldn't really think of a polite way to ask that, beyond wondering if he was a Martian like M'Gann. He did have the shapeshifting ability too, which made the connections even more obvious in her head. She pushed that away for a conversation for another time.]
